  • HUD: heads-up display
  • AI/COM/NPC(s): computer controlled/non-player character
  • AVATAR/CHAR: player character
  • REGEN: regeneration
  • HP: health (points)
  • XP: experience (points)
  • RPG: role-playing game
  • MMO: massively multiplayer online
  • PvP: player versus player
  • PvE: player versus environment
  • GM: game maker
  • OP: over-powered
  • AoE: area of effect
  • DPS: damage per second
  • CO-OP: (team) cooperation
  • Alpha (Test/Run): An early version of a software product that may or may not contain all of the features that are planned for the final version. Typically, the playing through of the alpha is the first stage of software testing, often performed only by users within the organization developing the software.
  • Beta (Test/Run): A version of a software product that may or may not contain all of the features that are planned for the final version. Typically, the playing through of the beta is the last stage of software testing before release to the public, often performed by a limited number of external users.
